Mayor's Charities

The newly appointed Mayor of Wandsworth, Jeremy Ambache, has proudly announced his chosen inspiring local charities for the 2025 mayoral year: Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees, Wandsworth Oasis, and Mindworks UK.

These three organisations reflect the Mayor’s career in social care and his commitment to compassion, inclusion, and mental wellbeing across the borough.

MindWorks UK
www.mindworksuk.co.uk/

MindworksUK is a grassroots mental health organisation that was founded in 2014 by our founder and CEO Sahar Beg. Sahar is committed to supporting individuals from all demographics, cultures, faiths, and non-faith backgrounds. We aim to meet the diverse needs of our clients, we have built a team of culturally competent and diverse counsellors who provide tailored, culturally and faith sensitive, and inclusive mental health support. With over 9 different languages spoken between our counselling team, we know that having access to speaking in your mother tongue has a far better outcome. In addition to delivering vital therapeutic services to the community, we also work closely with universities and colleges across the UK.

Wandsworth Oasis
www.wandsworthwelcomesrefugees.org/

Wandsworth Oasis is an organisation making a real difference in the lives of people living with HIV through grant funding powered by our eight recycled goods shops. Largely based in the Wandsworth area, we rely on our local community to donate goods and engage through volunteering and shopping with us to provide support to – and challenge stigma towards – those living with HIV. Wandsworth Oasis is not a service provider itself but rather provides grants to organisations directly supporting those affected by HIV and Aids.

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees
www.wandsworthwelcomesrefugees.org/

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees is a volunteer-run charity in Wandsworth. As part of the City of Sanctuary network, they support local organisations such as schools, libraries, cafes, and theatres to become accredited sanctuaries - safe and welcoming spaces for all, especially those seeking asylum, refugees and vulnerable migrants. Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees works with community and voluntary sector groups across the Borough with the aim of ensuring that everyone who seeks sanctuary can be provided support, dignity and welcome.
